Taco Seasoning Blend

I'm a big fan flavors that taste like fireworks. Not crazy spicy, but just all the flavors hitting you at once like POW! That's why I'm a big fan of Mexican flavors. So it's time for me to share my taco spice blend.

Now I don't like to go crazy hot with the spices, but if that's your thing then add about 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, and if you want even more heat get some cayenne pepper in there too. Personally I've never enjoyed eating fire for dinner, but my best friend enjoys pouring lava on all his meals so I guess I can't argue.

This little seasoning blend is the prequel to another recipe I got coming next week, which is my awesome Taco Salad. That's right, I'm using a recipe to promote another recipe. I feel no shame.

Besides, this blend deserves its own page because of its awesomeness.

This recipe makes enough for 1 pound of chicken or beef. What I would recommend you do is double or quadruple or octuple (!?) the recipe so you have some for storage, then next time you're trying to decide what to do for dinner you have a super easy solution and look like a hero.

Taco Seasoning Blend

  • 1 Tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Ground Cumin
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Coriander
  • 1/2 Tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1/2 Tsp Paprika
  • 1 Tsp Sea Salt
  • 1 Tsp Black Pepper

Instructions

1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, mix together, and store in an air tight container.

2. Use about 3 Tbsp of the taco blend for every 1 lb of ground beef or chicken.

Tip: Add 2/3 cups of water to beef/chicken and taco blend while cooking to create a sauce.
